WeChat payment launched a new offline payment solution called “WeChat on the machine.” For users who have to pay 550 or more, they can opt for the “WeChat Pay” function whereby they can pay offline for service during the flight. With the launch of “WeChat on the Machine”, WeChat Pay would become the first-ever company to solve the pain points of passengers on board.

The WeChat team hopes to bring forth a smoother experience for their consumers with the new offline payment mode and to provide better service optimization solutions for the civil aviation sector.

The payment mode was officially launched on 24th July on the 9C8887/9C8888 flight between Shanghai and Chengdu in Spring Airlines. However, passengers of the same flight can apply for the experience of the payment method from 24th July till 28th July. On a flight, consumers often face the problem of paying due to the lack of network up in the air.

With the WeChat on Pay users who have opted for the service, users can purchase things on a flight without having to show their payment code or use cash. Once this step is complete, later the WeChat payment will automatically debit the user’s WeChat account in accordance with the user’s bill.

Spring Airlines provided 1 yuan spike and 9 yuan snap-up on the first flight for its first-ever payment. Mr. Chen became the first consumer on the 9C9997 flight to spend a total of 3 yuan on using the WeChat Pay.

It’s really convenient for people who don’t like cash – Mr. Chen

WeChat’s payment method not only will help the consumers but also the airline companies to upgrade and optimize its service capabilities. Now the payment method is restricted to one airline only. However, it is expected that its service will soon be expanded and other airline services will have the same feature too.
