Thanks to Flipkart, India is about to get a new video streaming platform! Flipkart is expected to launch a new video streaming platform in India called Flipkart Videos. Flipkart videos are supposed to be on the market up and running by Diwali.

Flipkart Videos will be available to Flipkart Plus members. Flipkart has been spreading its branches into every form of market and has been successful in capitalizing on it.

According to a report by Moneycontrol, video is the only thing that Flipkart has not tried its expertise on. By adding the new video platform option in the Flipkart app, the company is hoping that they would be able to attract even more customers and subscribers.

The Plus membership which is prerequisite to the Flipkart Video is not that difficult to earn. All one needs to do is shop from Flipkart and collect 300 Super Coins, after successfully reaching the 300 reward points mark, one can join the Plus membership.

Flipkart has taken this step to tackle its main competitor in India, Amazon which had doubled down on its original content. The main difference between the Prime membership and the Plus membership is that Prime comes at Rs. 1000 in India while the latter one comes practically at a free cost.

For now, Flipkart will curate movies and TV shows from different sources. Indian market is one of the largest markets available to different companies for them to set up an even higher number of customers each year.

Flipkart is aiming to tap into Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities and is targeting the next 200 million potential customers in the country.

Flipkart videos could compete with other video streaming apps available in India such as Hotstar, Zee5, ALTBalaji, Voot, Eros Now among others. The current revenue generated in India from different streaming platforms is somewhere around Rs. 4,462 crores.
