LG G8x ThinQ expected at IFA 2019 trade show

Author at TechGenyz Mobile
LG G8x ThinQ

This year, LG introduced the G8 ThinQ and the V50 ThinQ, both are premium smartphone models. Yesterday, the Korean manufacturer unexpectedly distributed a teaser video via YouTube showing a smartphone with three screens, probably the LG V60 ThinQ. This device will be unveiled next month at the annual IFA fair in Berlin. However, it seems that LG will introduce another high-end smartphone next month, although it could also be one and the same device. It is, in any case, the LG G8x ThinQ.

LG G8x a new high-end smartphone model

On 2 August 2019, LG Electronics filed a trademark with the KIPO (Korean Intellectual Property Office) for the name G8x. The application is categorized as Class 9, with the description: ‘mobile phones; smartphones’.

Now you could think that the LG G8x is only intended for the Korean market, it was not that our colleagues at AndroidWorld yesterday were able to report that the LG G8x will also be coming to the Netherlands this fall. Although this model name had not been published online before, LG Netherlands states in its press invitation for IFA 2019 the following: “… with the new G8X device to be launched in the Benelux this fall.”

According to AndroidWorld, this is not the device that was shown in the teaser video. In Korea, on the other hand, rumors are emerging that it is indeed the same smartphone. This would mean that it is not the V60 ThinQ, but the G8x ThinQ that will be revealed at IFA.

In February 2019, both the LG G8 ThinQ and the cheaper LG G8s ThinQ were released, of which only the latter is available in the Netherlands. It is as yet unclear what kind of model the LG G8x ThinQ will be, it may be an advanced variant with the new Snapdragon 855+ processor. Finally, the ‘s’ model is already a simplified model. For the time being, however, these remain pure speculations, because LG has simply never released an ‘x’ model within its G-series model series.

Premium smartphones on IFA 2019

IFA 2019 will start on September 6 in Berlin, Germany. Several smartphone manufacturers will be exhibiting their new top devices at the consumer electronics fair. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will be presented this evening, which will also be on display at the IFA. The Sony Xperia 2 is also expected during IFA 2019.

This month the Vivo IQOO Pro 5G will also be unveiled and there is a good chance that Oppo will soon be releasing a new Find smartphone. Apple will follow a month later with its new iPhone lineup, not much later also the Google Pixel 4 will arrive and the Chinese Huawei will follow in October with the Mate 30 series. Also, HTC will introduce its first 5G smartphone and then there is also a 9.1 Nokia PureView expected. Enough to look forward to!
