Samsung has announced the Galaxy Book S in the same event where it presented the Galaxy Note 10 and as we had anticipated, it is a light and thin laptop under the ARM platform and with Windows.

Not too many details have been announced, but some important ones such as the use of the new Snapdragon 8cx 5G chipset, the first one specially dedicated to motorize PCs and new mobile networks. It is not a derivative of chips for mobility, but designed from scratch for personal computers and, in fact, it is the first for PCs under 7-nanometer manufacturing technology processes.

Snapdragon 8cx is the third chipset prepared to work with Windows 10. Unlike the previous ones (Snapdragon 835 and 850) Qualcomm has designed it with a mindset on the new generation personal computers that will push the concept of “ always connected », because they will not depend on wired or wireless connections on Wi-Fi when using the new 5G mobile networks.

Qualcomm said it would offer one equivalent of an Intel Core i5 processor performance 15W. It includes eight Kryo 495 cores, the fastest CPU Qualcomm has manufactured, even superior to the latest Snapdragon 855 mobile chipset. As for the GPU, it is an Adreno 680, twice as fast as the Adreno 630.

Beyond that, Samsung has highlighted another fundamental section that defines it: an autonomy of up to 23 hours. It will have -at least- a USB Type-C port and secure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

It will include a full QWERTY keyboard, and we also know that it will support Bluetooth 5.0. Possibly mount a webcam with IR and support Windows Hello for authentication and security, although it has not been confirmed in the ad.

Availability and price of the Galaxy Book S

With Windows 10 preinstalled and two color finishes, it will be available in September with a price of $999. We will have time to tell you all the details.
