Huawei released its new OS called the Hongmeng OS. This OS will be the first to be applied to many gadgets such as smartwatches, smart screens, car devices, and smart speakers.

Huawei believes that it is important for an OS to develop a cross-platform tendency, and be up for high-security challenges. Unlike Android and iOS, Hongmeng is a micro-kernel based distributed operating system which will give the full scene smooth experience, architecture-level trusted security, seamless collaboration across terminals and one development.

Huawei has proposed four system solutions for the new Hongmeng OS. Hongmeng’s OS’s “distributed OS architecture” and “distributed soft bus technology” will help customers enjoy a powerful cross-terminal business collaboration capability used in various scenarios.

The developers of this new OS are also hoping to solve the insufficient performance problem of the existing systems. They have made use of the delay engine technique and the high-performance IPC. It is believed that the delay engine can allocate the task execution priority and time limit in the system before the task is executed. The task resources with higher priority will be preferentially guaranteed to be scheduled. This method will reduce the application response delay by 25.7%.

The microkernel design aims at simplifying the kernel functions and implementing user services as possible outside the kernel. It also focuses on adding security protection to each other.

Hongmeng will be the first OS to apply the microkernel technology to the Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), thereby improving security. The code of the microkernel which is one-thousandth of the Linux macro kernel reduces attack probability.

Using this OS, the developers now can build multi-end based on the same project thanks to the IDE developed by Huawei Hongmeng OS with multi-terminal, multi-language unified compilation, and distributed architecture Kit. It should be mentioned that the Huawei Ark compiler is the first static compiler to replace the Android virtual machine model.

We believe that the launch of Hongmeng OS will greatly enhance the vitality of the industry and the richness of the ecology. We hope that the launch of Hongmeng OS will bring a more colorful experience to the whole scene era. We welcome global development. The company actively supports the ecological construction of Hongmeng OS and jointly creates a full-life intelligent life experience for consumers – Yu Chengdong, the CEO of Huawei Consumer Business

It will enable the developers to compile high-level languages into machine code at once while at the same time supporting multi-language unified compilation in the future. Hongmeng core will be the first thing to use the Hongmeng OS 1.0 this year. Over the years, Huawei Hongmeng OS will be applied to more devices.
