Redmi finally announced their very first TV, with 70 inches. Redmi general manager, Lu Weibing announced the launch of the TV, called Red Rice. It is not only a smart TV featuring all the latest technology which will be able to do more things than an ordinary, traditional TV, but it is also huge in terms of its size. The newRedmi Smart TV, the Red Rice is being described as “big screen, great wisdom” which seems fitted to it given its size and the fact that it is a smart TV. After the waiting, the TV is scheduled for its release on August 29, 2019.

Redmi had made a few speculations regarding the launch of a brand new product, and only half a month ago, Lu Weibing hinted that there was a possibility that Redmi was working on manufacturing TV products. Following this, on a Chinese website called the China Quality Certification Center, the information about the new TV appeared on it.

According to the information, TPV Display Technology (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. is the production plant for Redmi TV. Apart from the news of bringing in a new TV, Redmi is also planning on introducing two TVs of different sizes. One is to be a TV with a 70-inch display screen, and the other is supposed to feature a 40-inch display screen. However, the 40 inch TV is yet to surface.

Xiaomi TV already dominates the TV Chinese market in terms of sales volume with grossing nearly 20% of the total TV sales in the first half of 2019. Redmi smart TV could use the help of Xiaomi TV to have a push in sales and make way for their own TV market in the future.

Apart from Redmi, brands like Glory, Huawei, One Plus have also entered the TV market.
