At the Google for India 2019 event which took place on September 19, several features are announced for the Indian market for the Google Assistant. Notably, the Google Assistant has integrated third-party apps like Ola Cabs, HealthifyMe, Faasos, FreshMenu and many more. However, the showstopper has to be the Vodafone Idea phone line with the Google Assistant feature which lets the users enable Google Assistant without an active data or Internet connection.

The Vodafone and Idea subscribers only need to dial the toll-free number 000 800 9191 000 to activate Google Assistant. After the activation process is done, the voice-enabled assistant will do the work it was programmed to do. It will be working in the same way, that it does on any smartphone with Google Assistant. This feature is available to any phone in India, even those with 2G connection as it works without the help of the Internet.

Apart from this, Google for India event 2019 has also announced that the Interpreter mode will launch in India soon for both Android and Android Go users. Google interpreter mode will help to do a real-time translation in English and Hindi using Google Assistant. The tech giant has not yet mentioned the exact date for the launch of Interpreter.

Hindi has come very next to English as the most used language on Assistant. To further this use of Hindi on Assistant, Google has announced several other features for the Assistant. It introduces the ability to watch the news in Hindi with the ‘Ok Google, Hindi news’ command.

Android Go, Android and Kai OS will get the Hindi news feature as a part of their Google Assistant. This is not all. From the Google for India 2019 event, now the users can change the language of the Google Assistant to Hindi using the simple command, “Ok Google, Hindi bolo.” The tech giant is working hard to make this feature available to Android TVs as soon as possible.
