Facebook had been trying to increase its revenue through advertising and build a game content creator community locally. For this purpose, Facebook has rolled out an app in Thailand that allows its users to watch and play games.

Thailand ranked amongst the top five countries to watch live stream gaming through Facebook in 2019. Thailand is slowly transforming into one of the main hubs from where most of the gaming revenue comes. Thailand has generated US$692 million in gaming revenue this year, ranking the country in the top 20 in the world.

The large sum of money that has been roped in by Thailand fo gaming revenues only makes it an ideal choice for Facebook to initiate its Facebook Gaming Creator Programme in South-East Asia. Facebook’s game lives streaming viewership grew 38% over the past year, with the number of game-related content creators in Thailand rising 85%.

The top five most popular gaming streams from Facebook are PUBG Mobile, PUBG, Grand Theft Auto V, Arena of Valor, and Free Fire-Battle Grounds. Facebook also has a separate icon that accesses gaming content.

Globally, over 700 million users play, watch and share games on Facebook every month, with women representing over 40% of gamers on Facebook and over 55% of users playing games each month on Facebook.

Facebook has launched the beta version of the Facebook Gaming app. The new app allows users to watch live streams and play games. To take its initiatives even further, Facebook is all set to host the Thailand Game Show in the future.

Users can purchase stars to give them to the gamer of their choice. Gamers can earn revenue from these stars. So far 16.6 million stars have been sent out in Thailand.
