Tesla will launch the new third generation of its solar roof tiles line up. The new solar roof tiles will make the official appearance on October 25, 2019.
Tesla’s earnings call is supposed to take place on October 24, and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk has mentioned that during this conference, all the details regarding the third generation solar roof tiles will be mentioned. The differences in the generation of solar tiles will also be thoroughly discussed during the earnings call.
As is the case with any products, be it technological or otherwise, advancements and improvements with the innovation of later generation will obviously take place. Tesla which has its fingers in too many pies introduced the solar roof tiles back in 2016 with the promise to change the scenario pertaining to how much electricity is used.
The solar roof tiles were available for pre-order in 2017. In June during the company’s annual shareholder meeting Musk mentioned that the company had been improving the tiles for some time and that the tiles were already in its third iteration.
The third-generation solar roof tiles, as Musk mentioned, came with improved performance and gave the cheap, non-solar roofing tiles a run for their money when compared with overtime savings on utility cost.
The use of non-solar roofing tiles also comes with the cost of having to replace them time and again which is not the case with Tesla’s solar roof tiles.
From this information, it looks like the solar panels were in testing mode up to this point and now it is all set for the market to be consumed. However, Tesla has not come up with a solid timeline for the installation of the tiles, and as such, installations on a large scale have not been seen. We will have to wait for the official launch where all of the above-mentioned doubts would be cleared.
