Amazon is now going to sell online movie tickets in India after partnering up with the local online movie ticket seller BookMyShow. Amazon officially announced its new venture on November 2nd. The eCommerce platform said that it will introduce a booking option on both Amazon India shopping sites and the app.

Amazon is an America based multinational technology company that started to expand its territory in India a long time ago. Amazon had already introduced its grocery section and started offering online flight tickets months back. The eCommerce giant now will sell movie tickets too and it seems like its strategy to increase the focus on its payment app, Amazon Pay.

Users can simply log in to their Amazon account and book tickets onto the app or mobile site powered exclusively by BookMyShow. Tickets can be booked from the ‘movie tickets’ category under the ‘shop by category’ on the shopping site. This option is also available on the Amazon pay app according to the official declaration.

A press declaration was made regarding the topic that confirmed the collaboration of the local movie ticketing giant BookMyShow and Amazon India. As per the reports, all the cinemas and theaters listed on Amazon for ticket booking will be provided by BookMyShow. Not only that, but customers will also get access to the BookMyShow contents including movie reviews, ratings, synopsis, posters and more.

“Customer centricity is at the forefront of everything we do at BookMyShow. This partnership will further extend the convenience of digital transactions on Amazon to the ‘Movie Tickets’ category making the experience absolutely seamless for all consumers.” – Ashish Hemrajani, The Founder and CEO of BookMyShow

Amazon Pay Director, Mahendra Nerurkar also commented that they always aim to simplify the lives of our customers in every possible way. Therefore, they hope that this partnership will be yet another step on the ongoing journey.

Amazon also has good news for the credit card users as they will get a 2% cashback on each movie ticket purchase. Users can also get a cashback of up to Rs.200 on each ticket purchase till November 14. However, neither of the companies confirmed any specific details about the cashback.
