Instagram again is testing out NEW features. This time, the favorite of the millennials, the Boomerang. A few months earlier, Instagram rolled out new features for its story section that allows adding news filters.
Instagram also added new trending new face filters taking a cue from SnapChat. Jane Manchun Wong on Twitter revealed that Instagram is working on something new again. Wong tweeted that Instagram will bring on the ability to trim boomerang stories. She also posted a screenshot of the same.
Boomerang stories last for about 6 seconds which plays on loop a 2 seconds video taken with Instagram’s boomerang feature. If we really look into it, 6 seconds stories do not seem like much, and Instagram’s decision to crop it may seem redundant.
However, the photo and video sharing platform has not revealed or released any official statement about this new add on. Hopefully, Instagram will roll out the full feature soon.
In another tweet, Wong shared a screenshot of another new feature of Instagram. This will allow sharing a link or a post from Instagram to other apps directly except for Facebook, only if a user’s Facebook and Instagram accounts are linked.
Currently, for sharing purposes, users had to copy the link of a certain post and then share it on apps. The new feature is just a shortcut for sharing a link of Instagram feed post to third-party apps. The third-party app, according to the photo shared by Wong, is called “LINE“. It is yet to be seen how effective this new feature proves itself to be.
It should also be taken into consideration that LINE users are very few so it might also be a part of Instagram’s strategy to boost the number of LINE users. We hope Instagram should also add a feature that will let users share a post directly in other popular third-party apps, such as WhatsApp or SnapChat.
