Disney+ is off to great success. Disney announced that the streaming service, launched yesterday, already has 10 million users, with Disney’s shares breaking the $143 barrier on the New York Stock Exchange for the first time since the end of July. Disney+ is currently launched in the United States, Canada, and the Netherlands. It will arrive in Europe on March 31, 2020.

It’s hard to talk about 10 million subscribers right now because Disney+ is offering a seven-day free trial. On the other hand, a certain percentage of the users have already paid since they took advantage of a promotional offer of three years to have a reduced price. Also, the streaming service is free for one year for Disney+ subscribers to the US carrier Verizon which have an unlimited Internet offer.

The corporation said that in the future, they are not going to disclose data on the number of subscribers outside their financial statements. Disney will also not publicly disclose ratings of exclusive films and TV shows.

The performance of Disney+ is still impressive. It must be said that the streaming service has a very large catalog of films and series. There are also original programs, such as the Mandalorian series and High School Musical, The Musical: The Series or the films like The Beauty and the Tramp and Noelle. Disney also relies on the contents from Disney films, Disney animation, Disney Channel Originals, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, National Geographic, etc.

All this catalog is available for quite a low price: $6.99 / month or $69.99 / year. In India, when launched, the Disney+ subscription price could start from Rs. 590 / month or Rs. 5990 / year. The Indian catalog, however, could be less supplied than the American catalog because of the chronology of the media.
