Technology at its best

MIX Alpha with three core technology

Xiaomi unveiled the three core technologies behind its recently launched Mi MIX Alpha concept smartphone at the conference. Cui Baoqiu, the company’s vice president, disclosed how Xiaomi MIX Alpha’s innovative layered lamination technology breaks the limit of the curved screen and reveals an incredible surround display.

Its three core technologies include:

  1. The original surround screen design.
  2. Quad antenna solutions optimized for the unique screen form factor.
  3. Its UI software solution revolutionizes screen display.

The three core technologies also help the device to offer display and interactive solutions, full back screen to provide smart reminders, automatic switch between front and back screen, intelligent scene recognition and anti-missing, and side screen display status bar.

Demonstrating the technologies, Cui Baoqiu said:

“The software solution for surround screen display and interaction is a software solution independently developed by Xiaomi, neither Google nor friends.”

MIUI 11: Earthquake alert function

Earthquake is very common in Asian countries. Southeast Asian countries, Japan, and some other parts of China are prone to earthquakes. Xiaomi is the first one to offer an Earthquake warning function in the smartphone operating system. The function allows alerts to be sent to smartphones with MIUI 11 and Mi TV seconds to tens of seconds before the quake waves arrive. This technology was in beta version and was launched with MIUI 11 on September 20.

Fan Dian, the General Manager of the IoT platform department of Xiaomi, asked other smartphone and IoT providers to adopt the function widely and said that they are willing to share its practices and experience.

Xiao Ai 3.0 – The voice assistant

Xiaomi released the updated version of its Xiao Ai voice assistant at the MIDC 2019. The new version is called Xiao Ai 3.0 which incorporates a male voice option and is capable of having a naturally continuous dialogue via smartphones. It also supports AI telephone assistant, voice remote control, and small love shortcut 2.0 and more.

Cui Baoqiu, the Vice President and Chairman of Xiaomi’s Technical Committee said:

“Xiaomi’s AutoML model now leads the industry by dataset performance; and MiNLP, the company’s natural language processing platform, is activated over 6 billion times on a daily basis, making Xiao Ai one of the world’s busiest AI platform.”

The advanced image technology

Xiaomi officials disclosed that Xiaomi CC9 Pro had bagged the first prize in DxOMark. The secret behind its victory lies in super wide-angle distortion correction, AI camera, night scene algorithm, HDR algorithm, and more. Xiaomi is going to include these features in its other Xiaomi and Redmi models in the future.

Open-source initiatives

Along with these, the company also announced a new version of its open-source deep-learning framework, MACE. Moreover, the MACE-Kit will be officially made available for the developers for future use.

The company also announced that it plans to release its Redmi K30 5G soon in December this year. Henceforth, we hope that Xiaomi’s recently announced technologies will surely benefit the developers as well as the users to discover further possibilities in the futuristic world.
