According to an official Xiaomi post on Weibo, Xiaomi TV 5 series will be getting a video calling feature very soon. The post was uploaded on November 20 afternoon where the company declared that this feature will be made available soon on the all Xiaomi TV 5 series.

Xiaomi TV 5 series was launched earlier this month and went on sale from November 11 in China. However, there is no official announcement about its launch in India.

The Xiaomi TV series has two different models- Mi TV 5 and Mi TV 5 Pro, both of the TVs come in various sizes- 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch. Both of them share similar features except for the Quantum Dot screen, MEMC motion smoothening technology and HDR 10+ which are only present in the Pro version of the TV. Mi TV 5 comes in a 3GB RAM and 32 GB onboard storage and the Mi TV 5 Pro has 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage.

Adding to the features list, the Mi TV 5 series will be getting an upgrade of video calling feature and that means users can easily make video calls using their Mi TV 5. A video posted on the official Xiaomi Weibo account shows that a video call is being made using the Mi TV 5 series.

Both Mi TV 5 and Mi TV 5 Pro sport an aluminum frame with a screwless design. Both of them are just 5.9mm thick and the bezels are 47.1 percent thinner than the Mi TV 4 series.

However, Mi TV 5 Pro comes with a 4K (3,840×2,160 pixels) OLED Quantum Dot screen that can achieve up to 108 percent NTSC color gamut, HDR10+ support, and MEMC technology; whereas, Mi TV 5 features a  4K (3,840×2,160 pixels) screen and can achieve up to only 85 percent NTSC color gamut.

Both TVs add up certain other features like Amlogic T972 SoC, PatchWall user interface, and support 8K video playback. As for connectivity, they also have Wi-Fi 802.11ac, three HDMI ports, two USB ports, AV inputs, Bluetooth 4.2, 4 microphones, two 8W four-unit speakers, and support for Xiaomi’s voice assistant.

The Xiaomi TV 5 55-inch version is priced at 2,999 yuan (Rs. 30,200) and Xiaomi TV 5 Pro 55-inch version comes at 3,699 (Rs. 37,200). The company hasn’t announced the release date of the Mi TV 5 series in India. But we hope that it will be soon made available for the other regions too as for the Mi TV 4 series is already here,
