Since 1997, the MLB video game series ‘The Show has been one of PlayStation’s strongest exclusives; However, that will change in the not-too-distant future since it has been announced that the franchise will debut on other consoles.

According to information shared by the Major League Baseball (MLB) through a statement, starting in 2021, for the first time in history, this series of games will reach “additional consoles beyond the PlayStation platforms”. Thus, MLB The Show 20, a game that will be released on PlayStation 4 on March 17, 2020, will be the last exclusive of a Sony console.

Soon after the announcement was made, both Nintendo and Xbox were given the task of sharing it on their respective social networks, which seems to indicate that we will see this franchise on platforms of both companies.

While no details were provided on this plan (the statement mentions that these will be given later), the fact that more players will be able to enjoy this franchise is something that will definitely cheer up the franchise popularity.

SIE San Diego Studio is responsible for developing the games from the MLB The Show series, and Sony Interactive Entertainment has now taken over the responsibilities of the publisher. None of the representatives of these companies commented on the decision to release games on other consoles until now, which was exclusively an internal development of Sony for several decades.
