What are YouTube Thumbnails?

YouTube Thumbnails are just like a book-cover that represents what is going to be in the video. Whether the users want to watch the video or not they can decide by watching the YouTube thumbnail. If the thumbnail image is eye-catchy the decision to open the video or not is made easy. So, it is basically a cover image of the video. You may edit or create a YouTube thumbnail to make it interesting for people to want to click on the video link.

Looking to download your own thumbnail from YouTube? Here’s how-to

Towards the top right-hand corner of the YouTube screen, you can view your channel logo when you are logged into YouTube. Clicking on that will allow you to enter the YouTube Studio to download your thumbnail. You will find all your videos listed in the video section from the new Studio with the most recent video first and from there you may download a thumbnail from your own list of YouTube videos.

To go to the edit page click on the video first. Under the basics tab there you will find a list of selected thumbnails from the video and also your current customized thumbnail. Inside your current thumbnail, there will be a box with three dots. By clicking on the box you will be allowed to replace your previous thumbnail with the new one and also you can download your existing thumbnail.

On clicking upon the ‘download’ option, you will see the image in a new browser tab and from there you can save the thumbnail by simply right-clicking on it. You don’t have the option to choose the resolution in which you upload the thumbnail because by default the thumbnail will always be downloaded as 1280 by 720.

So far you got to know how to download your thumbnail but you may also download any YouTube video’s thumbnail. To download any thumbnail from any random video, you just need to know the video ID and also the video has to be a public video and not private. You can get the video ID from the URL page and it will be a random alphanumerical collection after the equal to (=) sign. You just need to select it and then copy it on a new browser page replacing that YouTube video ID with the copied video ID.

Once you have entered the new video ID, just press the enter key and the new video’s thumbnail will be available to view. That’s how simple it is to download and view any YouTube video’s thumbnail.

You can also use an online YouTube Thumbnail Downloader which allows you to download any YouTube thumbnail in different quality. You only need to paste the video URL in the box provided and tap on the submit option.

Just be aware of the purpose you are copying the thumbnail of someone else’s video because you can do that for your personal use to either view its larger version or to use its strategies to create your own thumbnail for broadcast or any commercial purpose.

Everyone has the copyright of their own video and also of its thumbnail, so one cannot copy someone else’s thumbnail to post in their own content without their consent.
