Twitter is now rolling out a new Continue Thread feature update that would let its users assimilate multiple tweets together. The users now can add old tweets to a newly composed one.
Twitter tweeted about this new feature, Twitter Continue thread on 20th February 2020 and posted a short video explaining the mechanism of it. While composing a new tweet, if the user wants to link an old tweet to this new one, all they have to do is slide up to view their previous tweets. This sliding up action will show the most recent post as well as older archival ones.
Once they pick an older tweet that they would like to link to the new one, the three dots beneath the older tweet will prompt the user to “Continue thread” button. Once that button is selected, the chosen older tweet will be linked to the new one. To add a thread to an earlier Tweet, the three dots will also let them Select another Tweet.
A single tweet offers a selected number of characters that a user can tweet. In cases where the user wants to tweet something longer than the designated fixed characters, they had to add multiple tweets in a thread. Now that the user can link an old tweet to new ones, it now becomes easier to create topic threads and tweetstorms.
Twitter did offer the ability to connect to multiple tweets together. But the new feature makes it easier than ever to connect a new tweet to a relevant post or a tweet from the past.
The Twitter Continue thread feature update is slowly rolling out now. So it may take some time for the update to roll out to every Twitter user worldwide. It is expected that it will roll out globally by the end of this week.
On another news, many iOS users are complaining about a borked interface on Twitter after an update from iOS. Twitter is yet to address this problem.
