Last year in December, Microsoft announced that it would introduce new fresh icons for all of its apps. The company also mentioned that with the start of the new year, it will begin with the rollout of the apps sporting new icons. True to its words, a couple of weeks ago, various Microsoft apps are getting updates for brand new icons.

Microsoft has introduced the Fluent Design-based icons for the apps that are to get revamped icons. Only last month did the update with the Fluent Design started to get rolled out for apps such as the Photos app, Voice Recorder app, and Office apps to both Windows Insiders and Windows 10 version 1909 users.

However, as for the Paint 3D app, the new icon will be applicable across all Windows 10 devices, as the updated icon will be available for everyone for every device with a supported version of Windows 10.

A couple of days ago, Microsoft made the new icon available for the Microsoft Whiteboard app, and Skype, and this week the new icon has been introduced to its Paint 3D app.

The Fluent design based icon is already available for apps such as Mail and Calendar, Movies and TV. Calculator, Groove Music, Office apps, and more. This is not the end of the apps to receive the new icon. Other apps will receive the updated icons in the upcoming days.

The new icon is taking its time being slowly updated, and as such it might take some time before it reaches all of its uses. The new icon of the Paint 3D flips the old one upside down so that the paint drop is looking as if it is falling down rather than looking upwards. The new icon makes use of four different colors instead of the gradient fill like in the original.
