The coronavirus outbreak has relegated people to their homes, and the nationwide lockdown that is implemented almost in every country has slowed the economy down and it has affected almost every aspect of every industry. The electronics industry is doing its best to bounce back from the severe loss experienced.

The world-famous electronics company, Sony is also trying to minimize its loss and to counterbalance what the company has lost so far by introducing its direct online purchase option through a third-party shopping portal which is called Sony Center.

Sony had been giving out various offers to its customers, amongst them is the company’s ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe’ offer which offers customers discounts on TVs with up to 20% implemented on the products of various sizes, ranging from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 40,000. The offers are certainly making it seem as if this is the best time to buy any of Sony’s products.

Mr. Sunil Nayyar, Managing Director, Sony India, said, “Having a strong footprint offline, Sony India has always kept a customer-centric approach and with this new initiative, it will be another step towards strengthening our relationship with customers and Sony Center partners.” He added saying, “We are confident that the portal will help reach out to a new wave of online shoppers and provide a seamless experience that Sony is known for in its offline market as well.”

As of now, only green and orange zones are getting their deliveries whereas Sony is not delivering to red zones. However, the website is still taking orders from red zones. Perhaps they will deliver once they get a green signal from the government.

It goes without saying that amidst lockdown the offline sales would take a severe hit since people are reluctant to out, and more so because they have no means by which to get around. Therefore, many other brands such as Sony have taken it upon themselves to ensure that their customers are getting what they want without having to set foot outside. Though Amazon and Flipkart are delivering products from their platform, having to buy it from the seller itself would facilitate greater surety.
