Xiaomi launches RedmiBook 13,14 and 16 with AMD processors

On 26th May 2020, Xiaomi launched three new RedmiBook models. RedmiBook 13, RedmiBook 14, and RedmiBook 16 were launched simultaneously by the Chinese manufacturing giant. The Xiaomi RedmiBook 13 comes with a storage of 1 TB.

Specifications

Processor

All the three RedmiBook models share the same design aesthetic run on the 7nm AMD Ryzen 4000 series mobile CPUs. Two variants of AMD processors: the Ryzen 5 4500U or the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U processors power these notebooks. These processors come in a reduced size and nearly double the energy efficiency. AMD Radeon integrated GPU manages the graphics.

Memory and Storage

Thes new AMD powered Xiaomi Redmi notebooks come in two main variants. One is the 8GB RAM + 512GB SSD and the other is the 16 GB RAM + 512 GB SSD. Both these variants are powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U CPU. In addition to the above, the RedmiBook 13 comes in a third variant of 16 GB RAM + 1 TB SSD. This is powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U processor. The third variant for the RedmiBook 14 and 16 is the 16 GB RAM + 512 GB SSD powered by 16 AMD Ryzen 7 4700U.

Display and Design

Xiaomi provides its new Redmi notebooks with a common thin and lightweight design. The model names are based on screen sizes. RedmiBook 13 screen measures 13 inches. RedmiBook 14 and RedmiBook 16 screen measures 14 and 16 inches respectively.

The screen to body ratio of all these notebooks ranges between 89-90 percent. All of them come with very thin bezels. They also feature full-HD (1920×1080 pixels) displays with a 60Hz refresh rate.

The 13-inch and 14-inch model weigh in around 1.2 kgs. RedmiBook 16 is slightly heavier and weighs 1.8 kgs.

Battery

The RedmiBook 13 and 14 are powered by 40Wh batteries. The 16-inch model runs on a 46Wh battery. RedmiBook 16 is also provided with a 65W mini power adapter. It supports 1C fast charging technology and can charge up to 50% in 38 minutes when the laptop is switched off. Its battery life is close to 12 hours.

Connectivity

All the three Xiaomi laptops feature two USB Type-C ports and a regular USB Type-A port. They have the standard HDMI port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. They also come with Bluetooth v5.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi.

RedmiBook 13 comes in three variants. Available color: silver

  • AMD Ryzen 5 4500U CPU/ 16GB RAM/ 512GB SSD variant is priced at CNY 3,999 .
  • AMD Ryzen 7 4700U CPU/ 16GB RAM/ 1TB SSD variant is priced at CNY 4,999 . 

RedmiBook 14 and 16 come in three variants. Available color: silver (RedmiBook 14), and grey (RedmiBook 16)

  • AMD Ryzen 5 4500U CPU/ 16GB RAM/ 512GB SSD variant is priced at CNY 3,999 .
  • AMD Ryzen 7 4700U CPU/ 16GB RAM/ 512GB SSD variant is priced at CNY 4,499 . 

Their availability in the international market hasn’t been confirmed yet. Discounts have been offered in the range of 200 to 300 yuan for the first sales. The laptop’s sale will start from June 1. However, bookings will be accepted from May 26 onwards.
