We often tend to share our fleeting ideas and thoughts in various online platforms and remain quite at ease as these ideas remain there for 24 hours and then self-disappear. Twitter has decided to use this Instagram stories-like feature of fleets for its users in India.

So you may be quite interested in how this Fleets feature works for Twitter and is it any different from other social media apps. Let’s get a quick idea about the in and corners of this feature.

So according to the Mo Al Adham, Twitter’s group product manager, a lot of people do not tweet as they presence of the tweet makes them anxious and they drop their ideas altogether instead of tweeting them.

In order to curb this problem, Twitter has got this Fleets feature of fleeing tweets whereby the user’s idea in will appear on the top of the tweets’ timeline-like Instagram and Facebook stories and will self-disappear after 24 hours. Interestingly there can be no likes, retweets or any public comments on these feeling stories.

The Fleets will appear on the Twitter timeline of your followers. And then they can click on the Fleets and shift to DM to reply with texts and emojis. They can not in any way reply in ways where their comments can be visible to others. The users who have access to your full profile can view your Fleets but if your tweets are protected then only your followers get to view them.

Just like the stories of other social media platforms your Fleets can consist of texts or pictures or even videos. With this new mode of sharing your thoughts and ideas, users will feel more control over their tweets and DMs will save them from public comments which they avoid the most.

Twitter “Fleets” has already been tested in Brazil and now it is India’s turn. You can avail this feature in Android and iOS with the updated versions of the app. It is being thought that this feature will allow the important institutions and authorities to spread and exchange official as well as critical information to their followers.

But questions are rising that in the times when every tweet of the politicians and other influential people are on record, whether the disappearance of the tweets may lead to major issues.

To this Twitter, officials have clarified that the Fleets are stored in their server for a stipulated time which is more than 24 hours. So if the viewers of the particular Fleet/s find the content to be violating the Twitter Rules then they can immediately report it.

Twitter will be analysing those Fleets to find out the violation that has taken place. They have promised to enforce against such tweets.
