The famous email service Gmail is not working, and Google has contended that it has snowballed into a global issue. The main problem seems to be with ‘attachment’. Any email carrying an attachment is being met with an error message.

Gmail has been down now for over an hour. Google has acknowledged the issue being faced by users and said, “We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 8/20/20, 1:39 PM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem.” Users took to Twitter and flooded it with a hashtag followed by Gmail is down.

Google has started to work on this issue as quickly as possible. In all of Google apps, the status page has been updated to inform its users that Google has received reports of issues regarding Gmail. Commenting on the issue, Google noted, “We’re investigating reports of an issue with Gmail. We will provide more information shortly.”

Most users are complaining that they are unable to send emails or attach any sort of files with the emails. In a few cases, the body of the email is getting delivered but not the attachment. It is followed by an error message which reads, “ The operation couldn’t be completed.”

The issue does not seem likely to be contained within Gmail only. Many of the users are complaining that connecting to some of the G suite services such as Google Drive, Google Doc is also proving to be troublesome. Google’s app status page lists that Gmail, Google Drive, Google Chat, Google Meet, Google Groups, Google Docs, Google Keep and Google Voice are also facing some issues at the moment.

Reports show that the issue started around 9:30 am IST today, and a number of countries are facing the same issue. However, Google and its engineering team are working tirelessly to fix this issue as soon as possible.
