Robert Pattinson will be seen alongside Tom Holland in Netflix’s upcoming production, “The Devil All the Time“. It will be a Southern Gothic family saga based on the novel of the same name by Donald Ray Pollock. Sebastian Stan, whom we have seen in Marvel ventures can also be seen here among others.

It is being directed by Antonio Campos. Campos wrote the screenplay along with Paulo, his brother. It is said to be a perfect combination of the Southern Gothic and the Noir genre.

Netflix’s official summary of the movie reads-

In Knockemstiff, Ohio and its neighboring backwoods, sinister characters — an unholy preacher (Robert Pattinson), twisted couple (Jason Clarke and Riley Keough), and a crooked sheriff (Sebastian Stan) — converge around young Arvin Russell (Tom Holland) as he fights the evil forces that threaten him and his family. Spanning the time between World War II and the Vietnam war, director Antonio Campos’ The Devil All the Time renders a seductive and horrific landscape that pits the just against the corrupted.

The Devil All the Time” strictly deals with family and faith. There is a two-way struggle with faith and where the faith actually leads people to through their belief according to Scanlen. The struggle has thus been portrayed very efficiently.

Esquire has earlier described the novel as “blood-soaked noir“. The New York Times reviewed the book in 2011 as a dark story where the opening scene is that of crucifixion. Willard Russell, a veteran returns from the Pacific island Abattoir of World War II where his fellow soldier was crucified.

This imagery moves forward with Willard’s mother, his uncle, and especially his son who combat nightmares. The novel is set in Ohio and West Virginia, while the film was shot in Alabama.

Netflix has released a trailer of The Devil All the Time on August 13, 2020, a month before the release. The film’s tagline is: “Some people are just born to be buried.” Let us see how we all shall be buried into the plot of the film as we watch it sooner.
