Samsung Electronics recently announced that it is going to bring a new software update for its Galaxy Watch Active 2 to enhance its health, communication, and connectivity features. The new update started to roll out from September 10, 2020.

Samsung claims that the update will be able to help the users to improve their athletic performance as well as make the connectivity more convenient for them.

The new update is currently available for the Galaxy Watch Active 2. It will also initially be available on Bluetooth versions of the Galaxy Watch Active2 and will roll out to LTE versions shortly thereafter. To avail the update, the users will require the latest version of the Galaxy Wearable app and Galaxy Watch Active 2 plugin.

Features offered by the new update

Take care of your health

Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be getting the Running Analysis feature which will offer a standalone running analysis. With this feature, the Samsung watch will be able to provide a variety of detailed metrics, e.g. asymmetry, regularity, stiffness, vertical oscillation, and ground contact time. All of these will of course help the users to improve their performance and reduce injury drastically.

Besides this, the users can also measure the VO2 max while exercising. This VO2 is an indicator of the maximum amount of oxygen a person can utilize during intense exercise. This measurement is usually used to emphasize the fitness and performance capacity of the users by tracking their training routine. One can easily access the VO2 max by selecting “running” under the exercise feature in the Samsung Health app.

With this, Galaxy Watch Active 2 will automatically perform running analysis and measure the VO2 max for each of the users. Samsung also recommends the users to measure VO2 max only while running outdoors at a high intensity for at least 20 minutes for the perfect results.

Help from the loved ones

While exercising, accidents occur often. In order to avoid any further risks in those kinds of situations, Samsung has introduced the Fall Detection feature. This feature will help you to connect to your loved ones once you face some difficulties while training. If the Watch Active 2 detects any potential fall, it will immediately give you the option to send an SOS notification to up to four pre-designated contacts.

To activate this feature, you need to open the Galaxy Wearable app and then select ‘SOS’. Next turn on ‘Detect falls’ and add the contact that you want to receive your SOS notifications. The Fall Detection connection will be activated thereafter. However, a network connection is required to notify the emergency contacts in this case.

Connectivity becomes faster and funnier

Like most other smartwatches, Galaxy Watch Active 2 also will help the users to connect with people more easily without the need to turn to their phones. If you ever receive a notification on your Watch Active 2, you will now be able to view emoticons and photos directly from your wrist.

On top of that, the Smart Reply will provide a suggested response for both messages and images for you. This feature works with advanced photo recognition technology to quickly deliver the possible replies for the users when they are in hurry. The device will also show you your chat history for your convenience so that you can easily select the messages you want to reply to.

To add a cherry on the top, both AR Emoji Stickers and Bitmoji Stickers are made available for the Watch Active 2. This will surely make messaging super fun for the users. The AR Emoji Stickers will be available for the Galaxy smartphones with One UI 2.5 or above and an AR Emoji Camera.

This pack of stickers will be coming with a total of 45 emoji stickers. As for Bitmoji, users need to have Galaxy smartphones with the latest version of the Bitmoji app. This particular pack will support 30 stickers maximum.

Additional features

Furthermore, Galaxy Watch Active 2 will now support the scroll capture feature. As the users take a screenshot from their smartwatch, it will be automatically sent as an image to the smartphone. You can also get instant access to your playlist on your phone with the Watch Active2 and with the new update, it becomes more effortless than before.

The update has been rolling out since September 10. Don’t forget to update your Galaxy Watch Active 2 to avail these amazing features.
