Ubisoft announced the VR version of Far Cry, and the new arcade game supports up to eight players. The game is set to launch at Zero Latency VR arcade locations in 2021.

On 11th September, Ubisoft announced that it has developed Far Cry VR: Dive Into Insanity in collaboration with Zero Latency, which happens to be one of the leading VR arcade companies which have its branches in over 22 countries. Although, Ubisoft had announced rather abruptly that the VR version of Far Cry will soon come out which will offer a new experience for its users, what the experience might still remain a mystery.

All that is known about the new game is that the game will take its players to the Rook Islands, the setting of Far Cry 3. Captured by Vaas and his henchmen, the players will have to explore the island and fight for their own survival.

It may appear as a surprise to a lot of people since Ubisoft has bet on VR experience even in the middle of a pandemic. The company is hopeful that by the time the game launches, players will be safe to go outside and play using their VR headsets. The collaboration aspect between the two companies, Ubisoft and Zero Latency, seems interesting, since both the companies are usually engaged in developing its own game.

Some netizens have questioned if Zero Latency is merely licensing the Far Cry IP, or if indeed there is a deeper design collaboration between the two studios about which the players know nothing.

Ubisoft had built a Far Cry 3 VR experience back in 2015, and this game was one of many VR games at a time when VR was merely in its “dev kit” era. However, the fact remains that Ubisoft has taken the decision to come out with the VR version of Far Cry, and there is little time left before it launches in 2021.
