Almost at the end of Season 8, PUBG now has revealed and launched some interesting changes. Erangel now has a ferry system. When PUBG released the update 8.2, it added four docks to Erangel. It raised some eyebrows as to what their purpose actually was. Now it is clear that the new docks are for the new Ferry system.

The newly added Ferries allow players to board and travel via two set routes between the Erangel Mainland and Sosnovka Island. Each of the routes comes with two ferries, and each ferry departs from the docks with the first phase of the Blue Zone. Once the ferries arrive at the two docks, they remain there for approximately 20 seconds before making their way to the destination.

To announce their arrival and departure, the ferries sound a horn seven seconds before. However, the newly added ferries are not available in Ranked Mode or Esports Mode in Custom Matches. Other than introducing the new Ferry system within the game, the new update also introduces the Jammer Pack which is a new item to prevent Blue Zone damage for a short period of time. It can prevent players from being damaged from the Blue Zone albeit temporarily.

This, however, is available in Normal and Custom Matches as rare world loot spawn on Karakin and Sanhok.

Another interesting feature that the new update has introduced is the Assist System. It can be tracked in Normal Matches in addition to Ranked Mode matches. Both the Ranked Mode and Normal Matches will sport an Assist UI along with team modes in Battle Royale Custom Matches. For a player to earn an assist, they need to deal at least 25 damage to an enemy who is killed soon after. Players can also avail of an assist if their enemies are knocked down within 60 seconds after the minimum damage, who, then, is killed.
