The Auto China 2020 event, which is scheduled to be held in Beijing from 26th September through to 5th October, will see the premiere of the 2021 BMW 5 Series Facelift with a long wheelbase. As part of the new Facelift, each BMW cars will have to adhere to special requirements, and as such the versions of the BMW 5 Series meant for the Chinese market will come with feature specific details.
The BMWs for the Chinese market will come with features that are unique to the market. In addition to the longer wheelbase mentioned above, the 2021 BMW 5 Series Facelift will also have a panoramic sky lounge glass roof or the Fond-Entertainment Professional with two tilt-adjustable touch screens.
The BMW series retains the BMW Operating System 7, and further includes new graphic displays further enhancing voice control and additional functions. The new BMW 5 Series for the Chinese market features a wheelbase that has been extended by 130 to 3.105 millimetres.
Extending the wheelbase comes with its own sets of positive areas. One such example would be that the interior of the car is even more spacious than in the versions that come with the normal-sized wheelbase. Furthermore, the wheelbase will also make sure that the back seat passengers also get not enough but extra legroom.
The BMWs of the Chinese market will be subjected to special features that are exclusive to China only. Apart from the larger interior and the extra legroom for the backseat passengers, the cars will also come with a comfortable rear seat with particularly ergonomic upholstery and comfortable headrests.
Since electrification is quite important in China, the new BMW 5 Series Facelift will be offered in a plug-in hybrid version as well. The BMW 535Le with a 215 kW/292 bhp plug-in-hybrid drive system is intended exclusively for the Chinese market and will be available with the M Sport Package.
