Garmin added another smartwatch model to its Venu series as it launched the Venu Sq and Venu Sq Music Edition today. The Venu Sq models come with built-in GPS. It promises a battery life of up to six hours in normal smartwatch mode. The two wearables offer features similar to that of Garmin Venu but cost much less.
Venu Sq is priced at $200 and Venu Sq Music Edition costs $250. The Music Edition as the name suggests features onboard storage where you can store up to 500 songs and listen using Bluetooth headphones while going for a hike or a workout.
Garmin Venu Sq models come with rectangular screens with slightly curved corners. This differs from the circular screen of the original Venu model. The rectangular touchscreen measures 1.3 inches and comes with Gorilla Glass protection. Garmin has provided the screen with an Aluminum bezel which gives the watch a basic yet satisfying look.
The GPS calculates the elevation as the Venu Sq lacks barometer and gyro sensors, unlike the Garmin Venu. It also doesn’t provide you with a workout demonstrating animations like Venu. This is not to say that the Venu Sq is not worth it.
At an affordable starting rate of $200, the Venu Sq edition offers great features which are available on the more expensive smartwatches like Apple Watch, Fitbit Sense, and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch.

- heart rate monitor which can also measure irregular heartbeats
- an oximeter to determine blood oxygen saturation
- stress tracking and many more
- Its also waterproof upto 5 ATM hence can be used during swimming and can survive rain-showers
