In this current scenario of the pandemic, where everyone is literally out-of-touch with each other and is undergoing much-needed isolation, it is quite a feat from Instagram to introduce this feature in order to bring people closer to each other, watching and enjoying time together over a shared screen despite sitting at distant places.

However, unlike Facebook, whose ‘Watch Together’ option only enables to watch online live videos, Instagram on the other has included videos, favorite movies, and TV shows to be shared over the screen, allowing users to spend their time with their favorite people over their favorite episodes and cinemas.

This ‘watch now’ section also comes with several customized emoji reaction, multiple chat themes, selfie stamps as well as message effects to deliver a more live reaction as a communicative medium with the other shared people while on a video call.

Currently, this option was first introduced in the United States of America and has now resurfaced in Japan for Apple device users only.
