As of 2018, there were more than 160 million people in the US who play video games. That’s over half of the country.
Currently, the videogame market is dominated by two major consoles: the PS5 and the Xbox One Series X. Scores of games are produced for both of these consoles each year.
Some games are cross-platform releases, while others are console exclusives, meaning that they are only available on one console. With so many different options to choose from each year, it can be hard to choose the best ones.
For PS5 games, 2020 has been an interesting year. We’ll talk about some of the best PS5 games 2020 in this article.
1. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Spider-Man has been a fan favorite since the day he appeared in 1962. When videogames hit the scene, people were eager to don the web slinger’s suit and test out his powers for themselves.
Unfortunately, these videogames always lacked something until very recently. In 2018, we were first introduced to Marvel’s Spider-Man. Players had a blast swinging through the New York skyline in what is the most realistic-feeling portrayal of web-slinging to date.
This year, they followed the game up with Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Morales is the second iteration of Spider-Man, replacing the original Peter Parker in the comics.
The titular character doesn’t feel like a reskin, though. Little touches throughout the game suggest he’s learning to become his own version of Spider-Man, as does his camouflage ability and venom strike, which temporarily incapacitates enemies.
This adds a new mechanic to the gameplay and truly makes the experience feel unique.
2. Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla
Have you ever played a videogame and thought ‘you know what this game needs: Vikings”? If you have, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is for you. For PS5 games, 2020 was the year of the Viking.
If Miles Morales is Spider-Man done right, Valhalla is Vikings done right. There’s a weird stereotype of Vikings being dumb brutes with horned helmets.
Valhalla dispels all of that in a way that is both informative and entertaining. Mixed in with the flourishing movements and hack-and-slash style that the Assassin’s Creed series has become known for are stealth mechanics and the ability to command large-scale battles at certain points in the game.
This is just one of the many games you can get in various PlayStation 5 bundles.
3. Demon’s Souls Remake
We had to include the Demon’s Souls remake on this list. The original game in a series that spawned three sequels and a veritable dictionary of obscenities, Demon’s Souls is the digital equivalent of repeatedly running into a wall and somehow enjoying it.
The Souls series has become infamous for its high level of difficulty. Each boss in the game will probably kill you a certain amount of times before you figure out how to beat them.
It’s not just the difficulty that engages players though. The game has a beautiful and somewhat creepy setting and the lore is both extensive and fascinating.
If you’re the type who’s up for a challenge, try Demon’s Souls.
Top PS5 Games 2020
All in all, there are a few great PS5 games for 2020. It would be fair to say that 2020 was definitely a good year.
We’ve mentioned just a few of our favorites in this article, but there are many others. We encourage you to expand your horizons and try any other games that catch your eye.
