Ewan McGregor To Play the Role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Disney+ Star Wars Series

Star Wars is perhaps one of the most popular fandoms and franchises, adults and children likewise absolutely love the movies and the subsequent series that have made their way onto various streaming services, such as Disney+. Apparently, Ewan McGregor has been cast once again for the role of Obi-Wan.

Mcgregor said in an interview, “It’ll just be great to [play Obi-Wan] again. I did my last one in 2003, and it’s such a long time ago. The idea of doing it again is more exciting even than it was then, I think. I’m thrilled to get a chance to play him again.”

Making the Star Wars films now certainly comes with its own set of excitement. McGregor has also revealed that filming has moved from the green and the blue screen to using the Mandalorian’s Stagecraft technology.

“It’ll be interesting to do. Probably not so much blue screen and green screen, which I always find quite tedious to spend week after week in a blue environment or a green environment. But this should certainly be much more interesting for us” added McGregor.

Needless to say, the hardcore fans of the movie franchise are looking forward to McGregor reclaiming his title as Obi-Wan. Although Disney has not given out any specific date for the release of the new series, it is clear that the shooting for the same will start soon. The shooting was first supposed to take place in Boston, but now it has been moved to L.A.   

Other than the highly anticipated Star Wars series, Disney+ is also offering quite a few new series including the new episodes of Marvel’s WandaVision series. The service will also debut a new original film Flora and Ulysses.

According to McGregor, the Obi-Wan series, which will include the returning Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader, is set to start shooting sometime in spring.
