Over the years, Facebook has strengthened its security and privacy by introducing a bunch of new features. It has already restricted forwarding on Messenger to some extent to prevent the spread of false information.

As Facebook has been taking the spread of false information and user’s privacy quite seriously, it has added the App Lock function, which can use Face ID or Touch ID to unlock the Messenger application. Now, they have introduced some new features that will give the users more control over spam.

The new features are a part of the Safer Internet Day commemorative event and the social giant claims that they will improve the way users handle information requests.

Along with this feature, Facebook has included a new method to identify spam messages by attaching context and new options for mass deletion of messages. Another additional feature will allow users to report abuse or harassment on the platform, and the user feedback option has also been updated.

Moreover, now the users will be able to easily see the block accounts as Facebook Messenger has added an option to view blocked accounts in the privacy settings menu. The block accounts have now also become obvious in email requests and security notifications.

Furthermore, Facebook Messenger is also developing a new feature to identify users who send large amounts of information or friend requests to users under 18. These could certainly prevent spreading false information, harmful content, or even abuse on Messenger.

However, Facebook’s privacy and security policy has become a big question in recent times after the social media leaked user information. If Messenger also fails to protect users’ privacy, then it can again face lawsuits in the future.
