OnePlus launched its OnePlus TV 40Y1 in India on May 24th. The newly launched smart TV will join the five other smart TVs launched by the company. The new offering from the company is part of the OnePlus TV Y series. The tech giant had made it clear from the very outset that the 40Y1 is mainly targeted at first-time buyers of smart TVs and, as such, comes in a pocket-friendly budget. The users can control the TV using the OnePlus Connect app.
The OnePlus TV 40Y1 features a 40-inch LED-backlit LCD panel that offers a resolution of 1920 x 1090 pixels, a 93% DCI-P3 color gamut; the display screen also offers a 93% screen-to-body ratio encased inside a plastic bezel. The TV comes with a stand using which the users can place the TV on a stand; however, if they wish to mount it on a wall, the users need to buy the mount separately. The smart TV equips 20W speakers that support Dolby Audio.
The television runs on a 64-bit chipset, the manufacturer of whom is yet to be unveiled. Additionally, the OnePlus TV 40Y1 comes with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory. It runs on Android TV 9.0 Pie OS OxygenPlay content aggregation service. OnePlus has revealed that the smart TV will come with support for various streaming services such as Google Chromecast, Google Assistant, and Amazon.
As for connectivity and ports, the TV comes with single-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, 2 x HDMI, 2 x USB, RF, optical digital audio port, 3-in-1 AV composite, and Ethernet.
The OnePlus TV 40Y1 is priced at INR. 23,999 (approximately $329) in India, but the company is offering a discounted price of INR. 21,999 on Flipkart on the day of the launch only. Besides Flipkart, the smart TV is also available on the OnePlus online store.
