Sony stated this week that the Xperia 1 III is one of the first smartphones to deliver 120fps (frames per second) while playing demanding mobile racing games like Asphalt 9: Legends.
The milestone was made possible by a collaboration with Gameloft, the French mobile game company behind a number of well-known titles such as Asphalt, Dungeon Hunter, GT Racing, Ice Age, and Modern Combat.
To achieve 120 frames per second on the Xperia 1 III, Gameloft had to work closely with Sony to fine-tune Asphalt 9: Legends to make the most of the phone’s hardware capabilities.

“Through Xperia 1 III, we were able to fine-tune Asphalt 9: Legends so that it makes the most of the phone’s hardware capabilities and gives players an incredible experience and exclusive rewards in the game.”
Players who want to experience 120FPS on the Xperia 1 III should only activate this unique option from the settings menu and enjoy the full power of Sony’s flagship.
Users of the Xperia 1 III will be awarded free in-game tokens and credits from Asphalt 9: Legends to encourage them to test out the new 120FPS mode. These tokens and credits can be used to upgrade vehicles, purchase extra vehicle packs, and unlock blueprints.
