Tesla is posting a lot of job openings for design managers of new Supercharger locations as it prepares to expand the Supercharger network and offer it up to other electric vehicles.

The Supercharger network has been rapidly expanding in recent months. Last quarter, Tesla had 26,900 Superchargers at 2,966 stations throughout the world, representing a year-over-year increase of 49 percent and 46 percent, respectively.

It’s expanding quickly, but Tesla’s fast-charging network may need to expand even quicker if it wants to welcome more electric vehicles by extending it to other automakers later this year. By the end of the year, the automaker aims to extend the Supercharger network to electric vehicles from other manufacturers.

Furthermore, rather than striking partnerships with individual businesses, Tesla has indicated that it will simply allow EV customers to download the Tesla app to gain access to charging stations.

In some areas, such as North America, where Tesla uses its own plug, EV owners will also need to use an adapter, which Tesla plans to sell at the charging stations. This might lead to a huge rise in traffic at Supercharger stations, which are currently quite congested in some markets where Tesla vehicles are extremely popular.

In order to prepare for this predicted increase in consumption, Tesla is expected to accelerate its efforts to construct charging stations. New charging stations and updated timelines were added to the automaker’s map of planned charging stations.

Tesla is enabling new routes, but it also appears that the company is concentrating on increasing capacity in metropolitan areas. For example, the Supercharger network in Los Angeles, a strong Tesla market, is nearly tripling.

Tesla has updated numerous job advertisements for new Charging Infrastructure Design Managers, according to Electrek. The job entails overseeing the entire process of deploying new stations, including:

“The Supercharger Design Manager’s responsibilities include active program coordination of all Tesla Supercharger deployment phases, including construction feasibility diligence, layout and design, utility design and easements, permitting, building, site commissioning, and closeout. The ideal applicant has relevant hands-on experience managing infrastructure projects (up to thirty at a time across various states/provinces) and exhibits a bias toward action, rational problem solution, and knowledge of project tactical details. Finally, s/he contributes a high level of enthusiasm and an upbeat attitude to finishing tasks on time and on budget.”

Tesla intends to nearly increase the size of its Supercharger network in Austin, with more stations planned than in Houston and San Antonio.

Equally, it planned to expand its Supercharger network in the United States, where its fleet is projected to increase quickly following the commencement of production at the Gigafactory Texas.
