“Among Us”, the online multiplayer game, rose to fame in the pandemic and became so popular with the Gen Z crowd that the generation also developed a lingo out of it. The popular game carried the motto “catch the inner ghost” with it and soon became very famous even among novice gamers. People were absolutely taken with the game. Moreover, the game also ushered in an impressive number of active players.

Recently, another popular gaming franchise that has reigned over the gaming world for the longest time, Fortnite, has announced that it will soon include a new mode called the “Imposter” mode. This is a direct reference to Among Us since the players will have to find out the imposter among the regular players in the game. Fortnite also launched a teaser video on the 17th of August. The teaser is only half a minute long, and the very short teaser shows the plot of an infiltrating ghost.

Normally, Fortnite’s decision to use the term ‘Imposter’ in their gameplay certainly attracted the attention of the people familiar with the game Among Us and the members of the Innersloth team who developed the Among Us game. However, Fortnite developer Epic Games declined to comment on this matter.

Innersloth Community Director Victoria Tran took a jab at Fortnite on Twitter by saying that if Fortnite Imposters apply a different terminology, then at least they can add a bit of fun to the game. The American programmer Gary Porter has also shared the map of Fornite Imposters and tried to explain the nuances behind both games.

Fortnite Imposters have been launched on platforms including PC, PS4 / PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. However, due to some reason on Apple’s part, Apple device users will not get this game mode update.
