One plus 2.0: OPPO and OnePlus Merge for Unified OS in Early 2022

The revitalization or a new beginning is a key to glorious venturesome victory to take up the challenge. OnePlus has prepped up to set foot in version 2.0. It means one plus booted for the new set of challenges.

Recently One plus announced its integration with Chinese mobile makers firm OPPO. As we know, OPPO and OnePlus work jointly to launch an integrated operating system by merging their Color OS and Oxygen OS in the opening month of next year. Both the firms have initiated research and development boot camps in India.

CEO Pete Lau has now unveiled the future mindmap for OnePlus. He has answered several questions, including details about his position in OPPO and OnePlus and the future of OxygenOS and ColorOS. 

OnePlus has become a more sophisticated and capable company and would continue its tagline “pursuit towards never settle” approach concerning its products and accessories. “We will keep on pursuing  our burdenless design philosophy going forward,” CEO Pete Lau said. 

Pete Lau added, “Over the year, my key position has significantly changed. I’m Chief Officer overseeing both OPPO and OnePlus flagship products, including both hardware and software. I had the unprecedented challenge of bringing my new approach to products and focus on initiating a fast and smooth experience for all users having able to benefit OnePlus and OPPO products, including the ColorOS and Oxygen operating system from my position.” He said, “I always want to make sure to create fast and smooth, burdenless products that are tailored to meet the needs of our core users.”

One plus product strategy:

He stated that the company has focused on the Regional tech market with a product portfolio customized for a particular market. 
While talking about product strategy, Pete said, “Considering the growth and success we accomplished last year motivates us to continue producing users a high-quality experience at numerous price points, with having OPPO alongside we bring up more competitive pricing.
Our affordable mobile phones will become more localized, but In the meantime, we will continue to offer our premium and ultra-premium flagship smartphones globally. 

It is known OnePlus 10; the next gleaming smartphone from OnePlus will be equipped with more unprecedented features in many ways. The new flagship mobile phone will be the first product announced after the OnePlus and OPPO merger. And, also it will be the first device to run a spanking new unified and upgraded global operating system. 

OnePlus is iterating its market strategy for smartphones globally. Lau said that the OnePlus flagship smartphone series will be launched globally in early 2022, including premium devices that come up with a price tag of $500 (roughly Rs 35,000). 

Pete said that OxygenOS and ColorOS completed a database integration in June of this year, and this is the new beginning of the unified, integrated OS. 

One plus also explained further about the new integrated OS and its functions. The integrated OS will be rolled out early in 2022. One plus nine and one plus eight users can expect to receive the latest update next year. OnePlus has announced that there will be three major Android updates to flagships devices. However, the OnePlus seven series and older devices will not get the new unified OS. 

OnePlus Nord will be a mid-range offering and will be available in specific markets. On the other hand, Nord CE, which was launched in June this year, will become the company’s entry-level device but will be available in specific regions. 

With a recent tie-up with Hasselblad for the OnePlus flagship series, ” We are obliged to bring premium camera experience  through our strategic investment in camera technology,” Pete Lau said.  He also said the company had larger investment flagship models.  In terms of camera experience, he Lau said that OnePlus would focus on three specific areas
• burdenless fundamental user experience. 
• Improving color performance together with Hasselblad
• Investing and examining new technologies to take camera experience to new heights. 

The flagship smartphones will get new features like natural color calibration with Hasselblad; while considering this, users can anticipate seeing new mesmerizing camera features with customized chip sensors. 

Future of OxygenOS:
While talking about the future of OxygenOS, Pete Lau said, “Both the teams are already began to share a software and hardware experience, OxygenOS 12 quality, standard has improviesd and software are becoming more timely,” 
While talking about ColorOS,  he said, “We have decided to integrate the OxygenOS and ColorOS teams to plan the future software experience together.”
Pete also addressed that OPPO and OnePlus smartphones will continue to have unique identities and won’t be the same. He acknowledged that each device is devised and crafted to target a different set of audiences.
