The Swedish multinational corporation that specializes in robotics, power, heavy electrical equipment, and automation technology, ABB Ltd has unveiled the fastest electric car charger in the world.
According to the company, the fastest electric car charger aims to meet the booming demand for electric cars from auto companies around the world.
The device can charge up to four cars at once and can fully charge any electric car in 15 minutes, which is appealing to buyers concerned about charging times that could take several hours.
Despite the fact that the spread of the virus last year resulted in a drop in new car sales, the number of electric vehicles registered worldwide climbed by 41% to 3 million in 2020, according to data from the International Energy Agency.
Electric car sales increased by 140 percent in the first three months of this year, according to the IEA, and the trend continued into the first three months of 2021. ABB is moving forward with a $3 billion electric vehicle charging business strategy based on the new Terra 360 modular charge.
The Terra 360 can charge up to 100 kilometers in under three minutes and will be available in Europe by the end of 2021.
The Swedish product is marketed towards commercial consumers such as gas stations, shops, and businesses, rather than the driver’s personal garage. Actually, the cost of the product has not been disclosed by the company yet.
According to the President of ABB’s Electric Vehicle Division, Frank Muehlon, the development aims to respond to climate change and the demand for electric vehicles.
“As governments around the world develop regulations to encourage the use of electric vehicles and charging networks in response to climate change, demand for electric vehicle charging infrastructure, particularly quick, convenient, and easy-to-use charging stations, is stronger than ever.”
