Japanese multinational firm Sony launched a highly anticipated Playstation5 back then in November 2020. Since then, gamers have shown a massive response to buying it. On October 28, the company announced that the PlayStation 5 sales had surpassed the astounding 13 million mark globally.

Around 3.3 million consoles were sold in Q2 2021 (July to September). In the meantime, paradoxically, 200,000 PlayStation 4 units were sold. However, the figures were more miniature given the circumstances, next-generation PS5 consoles are underperforming in some regions, so it is an actual figure to be keenly noted.

It is worth mentioning that the PlayStation 4 console sales have crossed 116.6 million; judging from the figure, PS4 is the second best-selling console only behind the pioneer PS2, which was launched in 2000 and built a standalone emperor in the early 20s, still, it is inescapable from the hands of gamers. The 13 million sales figure milestone comes after Sony belted around 10 million units sold by June end. In addition, Sony has sold 4.5 million Playstation 5 units within one month in 2020 alone. Following the goodly opening, approximately 3.3 million Playstation 5 units were sold in the first quarter of 2021. The new 13 million sales milestone now adds to its accounts. These numbers indicate that the PlayStation 5 is the blazingly fast-selling gaming ever built in the gaming realm.

Howbeit, the rate of PlayStation 5 sales has been drastically increasing; Sony has to find a way to jack up the supply of Playstation 5. Moreover, the firm handles the situation much stronger despite the chips shortage and aims to deliver the beloved Playstation 5 to the hands of fans.
