POCO is gearing up to launch its POCO M4 Pro on November 9, 2021. Before the event takes place, POCO’s head of product marketing, Angus Ng, has revealed that the smartphone giant is looking forward to an ecosystem and product expansion. In a statement, Angus Ng revealed, “Coming out with ecosystem products, I think we still need to stay close to our brand philosophy and product philosophy. So we need to somehow play it more on the safer end, to begin with.”

“Nothing is actually off-limits”, also mentioned Angus, which means that POCO will also come out with products such as power banks, wearables, audio products, and many more devices which are necessary for building an ecosystem.

One of the first devices that pop into anyone’s head when the ecosystem is concerned is tablets. The market is dominated by the ecosystem that Apple has created with its iPads which connect to its MacBook or iPhones or other products. However, Angus revealed that the company is not interested in starting with tablets yet, citing the fierce competition in this area, “On the tablet side, yeah tablets have been huge in the industry in the last year and a half because of the pandemic. But it’s because it’s been huge and kinda crowded, (that) it’s even harder for us to enter from that perspective.”

On its software front, the company is looking for ways to differentiate the software from MIUI. POCO Global head Kevin Qiu revealed that the company is working to align its software and its aesthetics with the company’s product designs. Qiu said, “As of right now we’re actually still discussing and talking to the MIUI team about being a part of that plan. As of right now, I can’t confirm anything about three plus four years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches, we’re still staying with two plus three right now for all of our devices.”

Although POCO had launched a phone with the Snapdragon 870, the company is yet to launch one with the Snapdragon 888 processor.
