Today, American multinational technology company Microsoft officially announced the release of Microsoft Edge browser version 96, with a quicker view of office files. The current version is computer-side with the number 96.0.1054.29. Users will benefit from a variety of new features and enhancements in the new version of the browser.
According to the official update log, users can rapidly access Office files after updating the official version of Edge v96. The new version feature updates, among others, are Cloud Site List Management, which allows users to manage their site lists for IE mode in the cloud without needing an on-premises infrastructure to host your organization’s site list, Improved handoff between IE mode and the modern browser, as well as Update Microsoft Edge WebWiew2 with WSUS, which makes servicing offline devices easier for administrators.
The Microsoft Edge 96 introduces the AutoLaunch Protocols Component that contains lists of scheme-origin dictionaries to automatically allow or block and Dictionary added to the mini-toolbar in Immersive Reader.
Users may now see Office files right in the browser when using Microsoft Edge, including documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, without having to download them and then open them in another application. The file opening experience for Office files stored on OneDrive or SharePoint will remain unchanged.
Free-format highlighting is also included in the official version of Edge v96. The PDF viewing and annotation experience has been enhanced. It can identify areas of PDF and scanned files that are inaccessible.
