A few photos of the NIO ET5 test vehicle from Tesla appeared online. The car is officially set to launch on the NIO day, which commences on December 18, 2021.

Although the amount of information available on the Tesla ET5 is very limited, the latest leaked photos reveal a great deal about the upcoming car. Reports claim that the ET5 will be positioned lower than the Tesla ET7, and the new model is likely to compete with Tesla Model 3.

Moreover, the new car is expected to be built on the NIO NT2.0 platform. Tesla has deemed the ET5 model a mid-sized sedan, and its body length will be between 4800 and 1900 mm. The outer design of the car adopts a slip-back shape.

The specific details about the interior design are not known, but some experts claim that Tesla will continue the ET7 design style with the ET5. Other guaranteed interior equipment will include the dual-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a small-sized LCD instrument, and a vertical central control screen. But of course, the interior of the ET5 is bound to be slightly different from that of the ET7, especially in terms of materials and configuration.

Weilai while presenting the 2021 third-quarter earnings conference call revealed that the three models of the NT2.0 platform will come equipped with point-to-point autonomous driving capabilities. It means that the ET5 will be equipped with lidar. It is highly likely that ET5 will use NIO’s second-generation electric drive system the details of which are yet to be unveiled.

The mainstream Weilai models use 75kWh, 100kWh ternary lithium batteries, and 75kW ternary iron-lithium batteries. The fact that the latest Tesla model, the ET5 is quite small in size indicates that the cruising range for the car will increase while the battery capacity will remain the same.
