Steam announced on December 18 the official launch of the experimental function 013. It comes with a redesigned center of the store, and it also allows the users to browse all corners of Steam using a powerful and new view. Steam had announced that those who joined the experiment would find every category and tab page on the store in its updated format. Moreover, the same categories will be available to the users when they select the “category” from the drop-down menu of the store menu or click the tab on the game store page while browsing.

At the top of the page, there is a newly selected game carousel. Although the design of this option is very similar to the previous version, the new version of the center offers the users new products and discounted works which are generated through Steam’s recommendation system. The system recommends to the users not only the games they have played themselves or even their friends have played but also the names of developers they follow. The new carousel display possesses the ability to display more metadata for each game.

Inside each center, the gamers can see the columns that display in-game activities, recent updates, and news posts. All of these displayed activities are mainly from the developers the users follow or have played their games or are added to the wishlist. There is also a new tag-based recommendation using which the users can find games with similar tags to games they have enjoyed playing. The content center of Steam also comes with a new and powerful screening tool. The tool was first introduced to its users in Steam Lab #012. The newly added columns will be sorted by freshness, popularity, or discount, and the users can choose to filter the options by features, tags, or shopping preferences.
