Today, the famous Chinese leakster, Digital Chat Station, revealed that Xiaomi is already working on its first smartphone with a vertical folding screen, which will be unveiled later this year, 2022. The Chinese designer and manufacturer of consumer electronics released their first mass-produced folding smartphone in the first half of last year, 2021, named Xiaomi Mi MIX FOLD.

The foldable device used a book-style folding screen technology, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, but at a lesser price than the competitor, with a price tag of 9999 yuan, about 1300 euros at current exchange rates.

The launched folding smartphone is equipped with a large 8.01-inches WQHD+ resolution flexible internal display and a 6.52-inches external display; the newly unveiled folding smartphone boasts the largest foldable display on any smartphone to date.

The device also features the first Liquid Lens in a smartphone and Xiaomi’s proprietary Surge C1 Image Signal Processor optimized for professional photography.

The Mi MIX FOLD broke the previous price barrier of foldable, making this category much more competitive. At the time, smartphones with the same folding screen solution on the market generally cost more than 1500 euros, so the Mi MIX FOLD broke the previous price barrier of foldable, making this category much more competitive.

As previously said, Xiaomi is close to releasing its first vertically folding screen handset, which might be part of the MIX line, similar to its bigger brother Mi MIX Fold.

In terms of basic specifications, Xiaomi’s next foldable could include a panel with Full HD + resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will also include a top Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU and support for fast charging rapidly.

In terms of pricing, we anticipate a lower price than the Xiaomi Mi MIX FOLD, given Xiaomi’s history of lowering prices in comparison to the competition and the fact that producing a foldable phone with a vertical screen is less expensive than producing one with a horizontal mechanism.

In the interim, it should be noted that the actual specifications of Xiaomi’s upcoming vertical folding phone are unknown yet different Chinese speculations revealed that it is primarily oriented towards women. Stay tuned to TechGenyz for more updates.
