The Apple education official website has revealed today that the Apple education store now requires Unidays and only one device per year as against what was obtained earlier.

Access to the website reveals that verification of studentship or staff status is now very significant in other for one to enjoy the inspiring benefits therein.

Apple’s education pricing, unlike most student discounts, is offered to a wide range of students and educators at all grade levels. The Education store is a technology platform that aid, support and boost current and newly accepted university students, teachers, and staff at all levels to learn, create, and define their own success.

However, with this development by the educational technology giant, several users have been expressing their reactions.

“Sadly I saw this coming and to be honest I do hold people on Macrumors and Reddit to blame for constantly promoting people publicly to abuse the Apple Education Online Store when they are not even students or teachers or in the education field simply because Apple wasn’t requiring education verification. Too many people blabbing it on the internet led to Apple closing up the hole. I don’t care who nags me because when something is good people should keep it to themselves.” Users lament on Reddit.

Reacting to the development, an India user said:

“Isn’t this how it’s always been? Here in India, this is how it has been since the Apple online store opened up. You gotta use unidays and if your college isn’t listed on unidays you had to call apple and they would send you a link through email with the student discount already applied. You would just need to email the proof of eligibility within 48 hours of placing the order.”

While to another user, who urge the educational technology giant to wipe out only one device per year, opined thus:

“This really sucks for educators – who are also entitled to the discount.

Edit: I misunderstood the one per product line. Was also thinking of educators purchasing for their children – but that’s probably part of this being implemented and is understandable.”
