At the dawn of this new age, we see the rise of a new industry – The Gaming Industry.  With its rise, it has also impacted the Hollywood Industry along with bringing in many non-gaming companies into gaming and bringing out new innovations.

Starting with earbuds to computers, laptops, keyboards, and mouse, everything is being built specifically for gaming. Each game that is created is an improvement. So, as the games develop, they have special requirements and the processes get complicated. In these times, the thought of buying a brand new gaming PC seems very appealing but isn’t pocket-friendly. So, we bring to you an alternative that is not only cost-effective but very efficient.

The best way to catch up to the requirements of the new games is to upgrade your gaming PC. This will help overcome problems like game lags, screen tears, poor graphics, difficulties in communication, slow processing, and many more.

Upgrading a gaming PC is not restrictive. There are various ways to upgrade your computer, from upgrading the RAM to upgrading the peripherals. You just need to figure out which is the best method suitable for your PC.

Step 1: Configuration

The most important step in upgrading your gaming PC is to figure out what your PC is and what you need. This can be found out by checking if you have the minimum resources mentioned for the particular game you want to play. The Performance Tab under Windows Task Manager can inform you of your system’s performance.

Under Device Manager, you can locate your system’s components. Under System Settings, you can figure out the amount of RAM you have and by looking at the hardware and motherboard, you can determine to what extent you can increase your RAM or upgrade your Graphics Card.

Step 2:  Ways to Upgrade

There are 5 important and easy ways to upgrade your gaming PC:

  1. Upgrading your RAM
  2. Upgrading your PC Drive
  3. Upgrading the Graphics Card of your gaming PC
  4. Upgrading your Processor
  5. Upgrading the Peripherals

It is important that you first figure out which is the most suitable, easy, and efficient way of up-gradation for your PC.

1. Upgrading your RAM

This is an easy and efficient way of upgrading your PC. RAM stands for Random Access Memory. The RAM stores textures and maps for games. It stores current memory helps you switch faster between tabs and applications and helps you play smoothly.

If you are facing issues like game lags, problems in switching applications, slow performance, then maybe it is time to upgrade your RAM.

Upgrading your RAM can mean adding 2 more RAM/ Memory chips of the same size thus pushing it to 16 GB. This depends on your PC. If you have only 2 slots for the chips, you will need to replace them with higher GB modules. Like two 8 GB Modules.

2. Upgrading your PC Drive

If you have a Traditional Hard Drive – HDD or if your drive is almost full, it leads to freezing of the screen or slow activity. This indicates that you need to upgrade your Drive.

The best way would be switching to Solid State Drives – SSD because not only are they faster but also more efficient and reliable.

You can add an SSD as a secondary drive or you can replace the existing hard drive.

3. Upgrading the Graphics Card of your Gaming PC

This is perhaps the most efficient and effective technique for upgrading your PC. Graphics are an essential component of the game. Upgrading your graphics card will not only improve the graphics, screen resolution, effects, etc. but will also ensure smooth gaming and prevent problems like screen tearing and lags.

According to the requirements of your computer’s motherboard and your power supply, you can easily replace the existing graphics card with better graphic cards and a more efficient one.

4. Upgrading your Processor

CPU is the Central Processing Unit i.e., the processor. Sometimes, you may find that some functions for your system are working at a poor 40 or 50% whereas your processor is running at 100%. Thus, it is overloaded. In this case, the best way to upgrade your PC would be to upgrade your processor.

After checking the requirements of your PC, you can swap out the processors. Remember, make sure to do this following the proper procedure including using a thermal paste. Otherwise, this may lead to damage to your processor or the entire system.

5. Upgrading the Peripherals

The easiest way to improve your gaming experience is to upgrade the peripherals like the mouse and keyboard.

Apart from the shining lights and attractive keys, these special gaming keyboards and mouse improve efficiency and, in a way, overcome certain problems that are hindering your game flow. They help you play faster and more smoothly and are also very appealing.

Choose the right peripherals for you by understanding the gaming problems you face, the requirements of your PC, and the peripheral options available in the market.

Step 3: Upgrading your PC

Ways like, upgrading peripherals or adding RAM modules may be an easy task but when you try to replace existing RAM modules, graphic cards or drives some special care must be taken. Proper instructions must be followed.

If needed consult a technician or an experienced person while exploring the motherboard and intricate parts of your system. This will help prevent any damage and will ensure the better installation of the drive or module and will lead to smoother up-gradation.
