Today marks another milestone in the technology industry as the global community celebrates World Intellectual Property Day.

In commemoration of this year’s celebration, Lei Jun, the CEO of the Chinese designer and manufacturer of consumer electronics and related software, Xiaomi, has revealed that the Chinese tech giant has acquired about 25,000 authorized patents worldwide, and another Xiaomi patents 20,000 patents are on the way.

In an official statement released today, Lei Jun disclosed the information: “Xiaomi has obtained 25,000 patents worldwide, and another 20,000 have been applied for and are under review.”

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) established the event in 2000 to raise awareness of the impact of patents, copyright, trademarks, and designs on daily life and to celebrate creativity and the contributions of creators and innovators to the development of societies around the world.

The date of April 26 was chosen as World Intellectual Property Day because it coincided with the date the World Intellectual Property Organization Convention came into force in 1970.

Xiaomi Corporation was established in April 2010 and went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s Main Board on July 9, 2018. The company works tirelessly to provide incredible items at fair costs so that everyone around the globe can benefit from cutting-edge technology.

The company is one of the world’s leading smartphone manufacturers. In the fourth quarter of 2021, the company’s market share in terms of smartphone shipments was ranked third in the world. As of December 31, 2021, the firm had built the world’s leading consumer AIoT (AI+IoT) platform, with more than 434 million smart devices connected to its platform (excluding smartphones and laptops).

The company made the Fortune Global 500 list for the third time in August 2021, placing 338th, up 84 places from 2020. Xiaomi devices are available in over 100 countries and regions worldwide.
