Finally, the long-anticipated OnePlus’s next-generation smartphone – the OnePlus Nord 2T, has been officially unveiled in India today. Last month, the device was announced on the global market, this brought more attention to the smartphone in the region.
Until launched the device received several speculations ranging from specs, design, and particularly the starting price. Now, let’s take a tour of the new OnePlus’s next-generation smartphone.
OnePlus Nord 2T Design
The OnePlus Nord 2T renders suggest a typical OnePlus design – with a smooth rear panel indented with the OnePlus logo at the center, and a camera module in the top-left corner. The camera module carries an interesting design – with two large units placed vertically.
The upper module houses the main camera, while the lower unit appears to feature both the additional camera units and a faux unit to maintain design continuity. It also appears to feature an LED flash as part of the camera module.
The OnePlus Nord 2T featured a classic design, with a smooth rear surface recessed with the OnePlus logo in the center and a camera module in the top-left corner. The camera module has an unusual design, with two big modules stacked vertically.
The upper module contains the main camera, while the lower unit appears to include both extra camera units and a fake unit to maintain design consistency. As part of the camera module, it looks to have an LED flash.
The device has a gentle inward curve on both sides, which appears to be an excellent design for ergonomics and in-hand feel. A metal ring extends along the side borders, and the display has small bezels, a normally wider chin, and a front camera located in a drill hole slot aligned with the center. Accordingly, the Nord 2T is available in two color options: Shadow Grey and Jade Fog, a light shade of green.
OnePlus Nord 2T Specs
The OnePlus Nord 2T 5G is powered by OxygenOS 12.1 and has a 6.43-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The display supports HDR10+ and is shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The phone is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 SoC and up to 12GB of RAM.
The smartphone comes with a triple rear camera configuration. It has a Sony IMX766 50-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 sensor, and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor. For selfies and video calls, there is a 32-megapixel Sony IMX615 camera on the front. The phone has 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It has a 4,500mAh battery that enables cable charging at 80W SuperVOOC.
Last month, the OnePlus Nord 2T 5G was initially unveiled in select global markets for a starting price of EUR 399 (roughly Rs. 32,600) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant.
Given this price, rumours have been suggested that the new smartphone with the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant will cost Rs. 28,999 in India while that of the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant will price at Rs. 33,999. Hence, the OnePlus Nord 2T launched in India with introductory pricing of Rs 27,499.
