Over the years, the Japanese multinational video game giant Nintendo has continued to expand its gaming industry with the best-selling game console among its competitors. In keeping to this standard, its video game console, Nintendo Switch, is reportedly set to become the world’s best-selling console.

According to VGChartz’s statistical calculations, the Nintendo Switch is on its way to becoming the best-selling game console in the world. As of the week of July 16, Switch sold 305,483 units, for a total of 110.41 million; PlayStation 5 sold 216,272 units, for a total of 21.25 million; Xbox Series X|S sold 180,909 units, for a total of 15.79 million units; PlayStation 4 sold 8,508 units, for a total of 116.97 million units; and Xbox One sold 484 units, for a total of 50,531,544 units.

Earlier this year, the game giant is also reported to have surpassed Sony’s PS 1 to become the world’s fifth best-selling game console. In the report by VGChartz then, as of January 15, 2022, the Switch sold 341,662 units, bringing its total sales to 102.81 million units. This also means that the Nintendo Switch has officially surpassed Sony’s PlayStation’s (first generation) 102.5 million sales and risen to fifth place in game console sales history.

However, it should be noted that the flexibility that Nintendo Switch offers its players is one of the reasons why it has managed to take the lead in gaming. Gamers can take their gaming to the next level by plugging their OLED model directly into their TV, or they can take their consoles to bed by disconnecting them from the connective system that allows TV play.

Likewise, there is also a Nintendo Switch Lite, which, unlike its bigger sister, cannot be plugged into a TV but is small, mobile, and easily transported for gamers who like to play on the go. Another reason why gamers feel the need to show allegiance to Nintendo and allow Nintendo to take such a lead for 36 months is the ability to choose the console that best fits their lifestyle.

Consequently, given the above reasons and the statistics calculation from the VGChartz agency, it is expected that the gaming giant will soon be the world’s best-selling console. Thus, stay connected with TechGenyz as we bring you the latest updates in the Tech and gaming world.
