In a bid to offer users promising devices, the American multinational technology company Intel is set to unveil a new processor that uses Intel 4 process that may come in 2023. The upcoming device is a code-named Intel Meteor Lake series processor and is expected to be a most revolutionary processor.

Design of the Intel Meteor Lake Series

The Meteor Lake series processors, apart from using the latest Intel 4 process, also incorporate a modular design that enables the stacking of chips from various process nodes, as well as EMIB technology for connectivity and Foveros packaging technology for packaging, both of which significantly increase associated performance.

The performance core of Intel’s Meteor Lake series processors will switch from the present Golden Cove architecture to the Redwood Cove architecture, according to a report by VideoCardz. The current Gracemont architecture for the Efficient Core will be replaced with the Crestmont design.

Additionally, according to current reports, the Meteor Lake series processors will leverage TSMC’s process technology to create GPU chips. They will have more EU execution units than the Alder Lake and Raptor Lake series before them.

However, as per reports, Intel’s discrete graphics Xe-HPG architecture, which lacks the XMG unit, will be modified into the Xe-LPG architecture for usage in the Meteor Lake series processors’ core displays. Meanwhile, the core display of the Meteor Lake series processors will probably feature ray tracing, according to a recent update to the Intel Graphics Compiler.

About TSMC and Intel Meteor Lake

Although the Meteor Lake family of processors is anticipated by many, it is not yet known how many EU execution units Meteor Lake will feature. Previous market rumors claimed that the GPU module utilized TSMC’s 3nm technology and has 192 EUs. However, the back column is said to employ TSMC’s 5nm technology, and the number of EUs has decreased from 192 to 128.

Meanwhile, a visual processing unit (VPU), which will be placed next to the processor’s computing core, will also be included with Meteor Lake. It performs similarly to the Apple M1 processor’s neural network engine, which can significantly increase the processing performance of machine learning workloads. Follow TechGenyz for more updates.
